Sara Davenport in "Boeing Boeing" at Davis & Elkins College

2013 Apr 11

Davis & Elkins College freshman Sara Davenport is providing publicity for the spring semester theatre production of Boeing Boeing. The French comedy will be presented April 18-20 and 25-27 at 8 p.m. in the College's historic Boiler House Theatre in Elkins, West Virginia. Davenport is the daughter of Daniel and Sally Davenport of Spencer, WV.

Guest Director Greg Mach, associate professor of Theatre Arts at West Virginia Wesleyan College, is truly excited to be back at the Boiler House Theatre for a show he describes as "sexy, very funny, and definitely over the top."

The production is the West Virginia premier of the 2008 Tony Award winner of Best Revival of a Play.

The 1960's French farce adapted for the English-speaking stage features self-styled Parisian lothario Bernard, who has Italian, German and American fiancées, each a beautiful airline hostess and each unaware of the other two. He keeps "one up, one down and one pending" until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to Paris and Bernard's apartment at the same time.

Mach says he's very pleased with the cast members who have "done a great job learning accents, creating 'shtick', and making these characters people we would LOVE to spend an evening with!"

Written by Marc Camoletti, the script was adapted by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans. It is being produced by Special Arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Tickets are $7 general admission, $5 for students under 18, senior citizens and D&E Alumni, and free to current D&E students, staff and faculty. For reservations, call the Fine and Performing Arts office at 304-637-1212.
