2012 Oct 10

Davis & Elkins College sophomore Meredith Hill received the Freeman J. Daniels Academic Achievement Award during the Davis & Elkins College Founders' Day Convocation on Thursday, September 20. The Freeman J. Daniels Academic Achievement Award is presented to the highest ranking member of each class for the previous academic award. The award was established by friends of the late Freeman J. Daniels to honor the memory of one of the College's most distinguished alumni. Mr. Daniels was graduated from Davis & Elkins College in 1922 and subsequently received his Master of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Virginia. Davis & Elkins College awarded him an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in 1963, and in 1976, he and his brother, the late attorney G. Neil Daniels, received the College's Founders' Award. Hill, a chemistry and mathematics major, is the daughter of Ronald and Cynthia Hill of Bridgeport, WV.
