Dayna Cooper Attends Southeastern Theatre Conference

2013 May 23

Davis & Elkins College freshman Dayna Cooper traveled to the Southeastern Theatre Conference 64th Annual Convention in Louisville, KY. Cooper is the daughter of Kenneth and Brenda Cooper of Parkersburg, WV.

At the conference, students participated in actor/tech auditions and interviews with representatives from regional and national professional theatres. Several students have been offered jobs at these theatres since returning.

Also during the conference, the group attended a variety of theatre workshops, training sessions, and speaking events; and faculty members represented D&E at the Education Exposition and recruited prospective students through undergraduate auditions, interviews and callbacks.

The Southeastern Theatre Conference is the largest and most active regional theatre organization in the United States. The annual convention brings together thousands of people from all theatre disciplines.

The Davis & Elkins College Theatre Program offers courses in theatre and theatre production designed to provide students with knowledge of and experience in an art form which has played a key role in cultural history and contemporary society. Three options are available to students working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree: Theatre Arts, Design & Technical Theatre or Theatre Education. The Theatre Arts program prepares and presents three to five main stage productions and three to five student-directed studio productions every year.
