Cortney Cooper Inducted into The National Society of Leadership and Success

2012 Apr 20

On Sunday, April 15th Davis & Elkins College student Cortney Cooper was inducted into The National Society of Leadership and Success along with 42 other students. Cooper, a physical education major, is the daughter of Charlotte Scott of Mill Creek, WV and Timothy Price of Elkins, WV.

The 2012 class of inductees is the first group to be inducted into D&E's newly formed chapter which is designed to generate leadership skills in today's youth. Throughout the first season, students gained insight into some of the country's top professionals' values and life stories through a series of live presentations which were streamed onto the D&E campus. Students also participated in six small group sessions where they set goals and created a game plan for obtaining these goals, while holding each other accountable for achieving their individual goals. Potential members were given the opportunity to take leadership roles within the chapter to help form the future of the group. The 2012-2013 season will help students begin to hone their leadership skills and put them into action by serving the local community through service projects. Of the 43 students inducted, eight exceeded the minimum requirements for induction and are now eligible for scholarships through the Society.
